So what's everyone's opinion on the big recall? For me I am not that worried, I know they will fix the problem & life will go on. Anyone experienced an issue with their Tundra?
I just brought my 2010 Tundra in for the VVTi cam shaft sping TSB and I am having the pedal worked on at the same time. I spoke to the GM about some sort of compensation for this inconvience and they were open to our concerns and listened to our requests. I suppose that is all you can expect, but as far as I am concerned, the Tundra is the best truck on the road. Period!
I am passed the pied off stage and into the acceptance stage. I have no doubt that my Toy dealer will do everything possible to make sure this all goes well. Should be hearing from them tomorrow, so I will give evryone the low down on the results of the fix. They gave me, at my request, another truck to drive. After all that is why I bought one. It's a 06 Tundra Dbl cab and it has the TRD package w/ dual exhaust...... sounds so good I may have to add that to my to do list. Oh well, what one more mod....right?
the only experience is with my daughters Toyota Power Wheels...the accelerator pedal sticks...HAHAHAHAHA...what would they think if i brought it in to Toyota???
I have an 07 DC TRD with the 5.7 and no problems. I took it in to the dealer just for the heck of it and they had it fixed in 10 minutes. All a bunch of hog wash if u ask me. I would never buy another GM or Chrysler, I would go to Ford first. The Tundra leads the pack of them all.. Go Toys...
I had my Tundra's VVTi issue fixed and have not had a problem. The work was done professionally and they made ever effort to meet our concerns. Pedal was fixed, but I dont really notice a difference. Now I enjoy driving the best truck on the road and I am glad I bought it. It is a way better truck than the Silverado's and F-150's I have owned. Toyota rocks!
I believe all this shit has been planned by the government because toyota is a good oversea car maker and the government or gm had to have inside people in toyota to rig all these problems that been happenin over the years. GM got the bail-out money and still went bankrupt so wtf? How come they didnt make a big deal about that? There is more to all of this than what the people knows.
I had my recall done today, mostly because it was raining and I was bored. It took all of 10 minutes and I watched the tech do it. I even got to hold the little shim before he put it in. It was about the size of a nickel, except it was square. The guys at the service dept. told me that they have never had anyone come in there complaining of a skicky pedal and really not that many people had even bothered to come in to get it done. They did tell me that they had a guy come in there with a Tacoma and he had gotten a ticket for going 70 in a 45 zone and he was trying to get the cop to believe that his pedal was stuck and he couldn't slow it down. The cop said that if he could get the toyota dealer to give them a written statement that he had a defective pedal, then they would clear the ticket. No such luck for him. The cop must have known that the Taco was not included in the recall. Anyway, I notced that the pedal feels a bit more "touchy" and it is easier to depress. I guess I will get used to it. They did not do the brake/accelerator lockout thing, so in the unlikely event that I felt the need to do a burnout, it could still be done.
Can you describe the new feeling more? I've already told my service advisor I'm considering not having the recall done. So what do you mean by touchy feel? Easier to depress as in let off it? Hmmmm....And what's the deal on a lockout? I didn't hear about that before but definitely don't want anything else tampered with.
TXTee, not to worry. The pedal just seems to be a LITTLE bit easier to depress. Other than that, nothing out of the ordinary. Not too sure about the brake deal, but the VVTi repair I had done worked great and I have put on 1200 miles with out a hitch.
Its not bad or anything, but I did notice that the pedal action was a bit more "slippery" feeling, for the lack of a better term- both depressing and releasing the pedal. It will grow on me I'm sure, but I'm pretty observant of such things. The average person probably wouldn't notice it. The lockout thing is the software update that would make it to where the throttle will not open if the brake pedal is depressed. It is supposed to make it to where if the throttle were to get stuck somehow, the brake would override and bring the vehicle to a safe stop. They are doing it to all the new sequoias, but for some reason they are NOT doing it on the Tundra. That would also make it immpossible to do a standstill burnout. While I have never done a burnout, I have been in certain trailering (boat ramp) situations where it was helpful to hold the brake, apply the throttle and release the brake in order to prevent vehicle rollback.
Thanks for all the feedback, guys! Glad to hear everything is working out. And I agree I don't want that reprogrammed deal. I don't burnout but never know when the bug will bite or like you said actually need it.
