Talk to Cris for cost and location, i am sure he will be posting something soon. Do you have a 4x4 or 4x2? you will need new tires and new rims. For me lift+wheels/tires+install was 7k, there are a lot of options out now for lifts, figure how much money you want to spend and then go from there. feel free to ask more questions.
Thanks bryce! Hey Marvin, if you know what you want I can get it for you. I recommend the procomp stage 2 lift, with either 18" or 20" rims and 33" or 35" tires. As for the wheels and tires we can get you hooked up also. I need year make and model, engine size, 4x4, or 4x2. size bed, just the specs. Let me know what you want I will get you killer discounts install for me personally before I had the hookup with my stuff was $6000. Let me know your zip so I can factor in shipping cost for you! We will ship on one pallet to lower the cost of shipping. Thanks talk to you soon
I have an 08 tundra double cab with a regular sized bed. It has the TRD off road package and its a 4x2. IT has a 5.7 L V8 Engine. My area code is 90018. I was also looking into getting 20 in BRP or XD series rims.
Why would you recommend the pro comp lifts? My buddy who owns an offroad shop says that he only uses race car dynamics lifts. I would love your opinion if you know. Thanks
I have a procomp stage 2 lift never had any problems so far it takes the pounding no problem at all and hey it handles very well great lift thats why i recommend this lift!
Bryce, You say that you have a 6" lift with 35's (?)...... What kind of fuel milage are you getting??
I have the same setup and I get 12.5 to 13'ish around town and 13.5 on the highway... and if I am towing my little 7x14' enclosed trailer to the Dunes, I only get 10 to 10.5
I am seriously considering having the ring/pinions changed to better match the larger tire size, but hesitant only beacause they will cost $1800 + tax..... Have you talked with anyone who has done this already??
Just doing the math, Gears cost $2000, you drive 20K a year, gas costs $3.00 Gallon, You average 13 MPG before . . . .
If you gain 1/2 MPG = 11.75 years to make it up
If you gain 1 MPG = 6 years
If you gain 1.5 MPG = 4.2 years
If you gain 2 MPG = 3.25 years
I just want to find out what others have experienced before I find out for myself...
Interesting research you've done....factor in that gas will increase each year and the time to get full ROI decreases. I personally would leave truck as is but there are other benefits to changing the gears that may not be monetary.
thats a lot of math! i was getting 11 after lift 6" and tires 35". did a CIA and tonneau cover and get the same as you 12.5-13.5mpg. i haven't thought about doing and gears mainly because i am used to this mileage all my vehicles have been lifted and thats about what i average.
i personally don't think that the gain you will receive from gears is worth it, based on your math and having done it with rock crawlers.
the only thing i have found to get a little better mileage is by using sequential shift and make sure you truck gets into 6th gear. for me i have found that it likes to stay in 5th a lot, and not go to 6th. when i do this have gotten 14 to 15 when driving on the hwy. hope this helps
