To get the seat belt dinger to shut up the best thing to do this is to go to Toyota and get them to order you some seat belt extenders you can just pulg them in and your dinger want ding anymore. Just be careful if you leave passenger side in then the air bag light will stay off when someone gets in you have to unplug it then plug it back in takes about 20 seconds for the light to say on. Works great for riding off road when you dont need a seat belt and have to do a lot of putting in park then going again and start dinging all over again and if you have a dog ride inside the truck my dog will set off the dinger then as soon as it shuts up he will jump in the back then right back in the front and start dinging all over again. oh yeah and its FREE!!!

Thanks for being the first person to ever explain why you'd want to disable the ding. Makes sense for the off road part and my pooch isn't allowed to ride shotgun but I see your point.
The dealer can disable the seatbelt chime with the Techstream.
For what kind of fee?
Depends. I got it done for free. They also turned on my alarm for free.
Very cool - I get a few free things here and there from my service advisor too but when you suggest dealership most times something will be coming out of the wallet.
Yeah they wanted $45 to cut the dinger off the free seat belt extenders were way better but yeah the dealership will always fig out someway to get your money like the other day one of my back windows shorted out and they wouldnt cover it under warrenty bc they said i had installed new speakers but they said they would work out a deal bc i got mad they wouldnt cover it they said we will pay for parts and you pay for labor the thing is theres no parts involved when all you have to do is recontect two wires i guess there might have been some electrical tape and turned out what happend was the window rolling down caught the wire and pulled it out Dealerships Suck!
i got mine done for 40 bucks as well as FOB key reset. I hate pushing twice on that key just to unlock every door. Now only one push and all is unlock. saves me hair from being pulled out because of frustration.
Some dealers will and some won't disable the annoying chiming seat belt alert. If you don't want to get the seat belt extenders, just pop open with an awl or nut pick with tip on it and push in the plastic holding the seat belt latch on. Looks for a small spring in the middle of the white plastic clip and remove with tweezers or ice fishing forceps (small, thin needle nose type pliers) ONLY from the passenger seat belt. Believe it or not, just by removing the Drivers Side ONLY spring in the buckle area, it disables ONLY the chime from BOTH the driver's and passenger's side, at least it worked for me - give it a shot ONLY if you cannot stand that chiming noise everyday.
Sorry, I meant remove the spring ONLY from the driver's seat belt buckle, not the passenger side. Please do not mess with the passenger side seat belt buckle since if you remove the spring on that side, it causes problems with the passenger side airbag sensor.
There is a WONDERFUL solution to this problem! You can shut off the seat belt alarm in seconds. You can turn it back on when you want. (no tools). Get on the net and type in seatbeltalarmstop. This company has 2 products that will do the job.
#1 is a seatbeltalarmstop. you plug it into your seat buckle and the alarm stops instantly. This is for driving on private property with no chance of an accident. Click the disconnect button on the seat buckle to remove it and buckle up before you drive on public roads. (Retails for under $10). Option #2 is a seatbeltbucklealarmstop. You plug it into your seat buckle. When you want to buckle up you plug your seatbelt clip into the new seatbeltbucklealarmstop. SWEET! (retails for under $25) I am an adult....along with you. I don't need some irritating noise to get me to bucikle up! I understand the need for wearing seatbelts. When I get into my car I buckle up just fine while experiencing the wonderful harmony of quiet.
