hey just got all the parts i ordered, gotta love that tax return and the volant CAI went in no problems but the instructions for the brush guard are really vague and not helpful... anyone have experience with this that they could share. it would be much appriciated...
so a few different problems ive run into so far... one is that the holes the bolts of the dual bolt plate are suppose to go through... one doesnt fit in the hole... second thing is my tow hooks cant go back on with the bottom brackets cause they are more beefed then the ones shown in the application... lastly the place where the top bracket is suppose to go through the bumper those small fins i guess you could call them are in the way so gotta cut that to fit... any help or ideas to fix these problems would be greatly appreciated.
No, not from experience. Simply, if it has that many issues to overcome so that it fits, I would get another brand that is a true bolt-on installation. Should not have to drill holes in your ride, sacrafice your tow-hooks, and cut your grill to accomodate a manufacturers lack of engeneering ability. There are many out there to choose from. Pick one from a company that respects you and your truck.
Ok - sorry I haven't been on the site in a few days. Yes, I have an Aries bull bar from 1st gen installed on 2nd gen. Because the bolt pattern is different, I had my brackets custom fabbed. As far as I know, NO bull bar accepts tow hooks. You'd have to find longer tow hooks to make it work and that's difficult or another custom job. I kept my tow hooks and will travel with them in the event they are ever needed. What I find weird is why the 2010 model is being installed anywhere within the grill. It should all be underneath the bumper - direct replacement of where the tow hooks were removed. It shouldn't even require instructions to have this installed, much less any modifications to the truck.
However, is this a brush guard or a bull bar? Two different things but I still don't see why they would make a specific model for the truck that doesn't work.
so did a few things... swapped tow hooks with a buddy and problem solved for that. cut the welt on the bolt that wouldnt fit through and replaced it with a smaller bolt and that fixed that... had to cut a small slot for the top bracket but no big. i really like how it turned out... i started putting my lift kit on tonight and when it was in the shop of course i played with the lift raising the truck up and down to see where about 6" would be and am now wanting to replace my brand new 3/1 toytec leveling with a 6" lift so if anyones in want i have one. brand new pretty much... heres some pics of the brush guard on. or what i like to call a
"cow catcher"
okay, i think if it's still on the warranty you can return that automobile parts to the dealer where you bought it. but if it is not under of the warranty try to find an auto mechanic who can help you to installed it.
