does anyone know why it feels like someone bumps me when i come to a stop and start. someone told me axle flex? leveling kit installed 305/55/toyo opencountry a/t tires 20"rims
finally got the drive line replaced today, still.......STILL have the "bump from behind" feel when i come to a stop and take off. going to take the 20's off and put back on the18 tires and see if it changes anything.
i tried to have this addressed again at toyota ,, they say they are aware of it and if i had the 4x4 they would replace it for me but since i have the 2 wheel drive they wont fix it even if i have the same bump from behind feeling.. they assure me it wont damage my drive train at all and is covered if any failure up to 60 thou miles..

there are only three leafs on the rear ,, ,they are built w/o extra support leafs . i noticed that with traction bars or 4 link still allows articulation and gets rid of all that flex when stopping and really plants all that horsepower . 4 link can be made cheap and fast. i noticed it more as soon as i put on 31" snow tires
I have had my driveline replaced under the TSB from toyota, didn't help the "bump" i was getting when i stopped and started upon acceleration, Had the spline regreased and that helped for about 800 miles and it slowly came back. Took it back to toyota, raised hell, called an 800 number and complained, threw out several suggestions, maybe it was anther bad driveline and to cross check the numbers and see when it was made, same production run as the first the driveline, replace it again, replace it with one off of a truck on the lot. No, no and no, that is to easy. toyota regreased the spline, "again" and if that didn't help, they would call the "district rep" and he would come down and take a "look at the truck". Well, it didn't help,. in fact it really is a lot worse now than than before the second regrease. It's annoying, it's not right, people ask what is wrong with your truck and if i let it continue, i may tear or break something else up in the the tranny. My 07 toyota with the same lift did not do this. Toyota said they wasn't aware of this problem and i told them bullsh**, because they issued the "TSB" for this exact problem i'm having. i may have something else going on with the truck but when the first regrease stopped the "bump" for 800 miles, why not get a driveline after the "bad" production run and replace it once more. My dealer said they have replaced about 100 drivelines on the toyotas and my my town is less than 175 thousand people. Stand your grond Rich m, I didn't buy a 45,000 truck for it to do this. I love my toyota, but this is ridiculous.
i am aware of that TSB and even checked my vin # and matched the # to TMMI And my 5.7 crewmax but this is in the TSB you posted and i qoute
Introduction
Some owners of 4WD equipped 2007 – 2008 model year Tundra vehicles may experience a
clunk/thunk noise from the rear of the vehicle or a “bump-from-behind” sensation just before or
when accelerating from a stop. Improvements have been implemented on the rear propeller shaft
(driveshaft) to reduce this condition. Utilize the following repair procedure to address customer
complaint vehicles
so they told me it doesnt apply to me ..Bogus huh. they said it has something to do with the gears ,it has play so it wont tear the gears up.. i should have had him write it down and sign that for me ,, as well as assuring me it wont tear something up..
I don't believe that for one second. Gears on the spline or gears in the rear-end. They told me it's to tight, the gears are binding together and no room for slinding up and down the spline.
I am wondering if I have the same issue. I complained right away right after purchase in 2007 my Tundra 4wd and after coming to a complete stop, if you let the truck roll forward and inch or two before stepping on the gas to accelerate slowly, my truck lurches forward not very smoothly. It is like something is catching and not releasing for 1 second or so right around when you step on the accelerator pedal. I really thought my brakes were not releasing fully, but my Toyota dealer at that time in 2007, checked my brakes, etc. and said nothing could be found wrong and this is normal. I would like to know what # the TSB is and on what date exactly the TSB was written, before or after 2007? I have gotten used to it over the 2 years, but it is still annoying and can be felt when coming to a complete stop and then accelerating from a complete stop.
same here mark. i reported it !! they acknowledge it!! and it is made at the same plant ,but say im not included in that TSB becase i have the limited 2wd crew cab . but to me its ridiculous. mine does the same thing . i fear one day i will get the bump and not look and wind up having actualy been bumped by a real car and drive off only to find some one elses paint attatched to my bumper/ the bump still happens but not as much as it was,
I hope you get some answers. I have two drivelines and two regreases to no aveil. the lastest driveline was told to me that it was an updated driveline to help with this issue. i didn't even get it off the lot and it was doing it. I did remove my 1" rear block and it seemed to help but i still could feel it. I've called the toyota dealer but they are ignoring me now. the 800 number is worhtless you find on the toyota web site. all they do is make apointments at your dealer. They can't even see anything that has been to your vehicle. Quote i got was "all we are is a bitc* line". Good luck Mark, i don't know what is to do except try an aftermarket driveline and either eliminate or continue troubleshoting.
